Yes, Community group projects and the community funding grant has helped my Cook Island community build resilient, young people who continue to live, work and contribute to the Otago and New Zealand economy as responsible, connected young leaders for tomorrow. Without such funding, we cannot continue to build on our young tamariki, our young teenagers and our young adults to strengthen their identities, their health and wellbeing, and continued contributing engagement to our society, the Dunedin economy. When our families are together, our children are not statistics of the children who roam the streets stealing cars - our children have too much pride in themselves, and respect for their own property and those of others. The community grants scheme helps us keep our families connected, engaging, thriving to be their best versions, strong in their culture, and strong in our core values - respect, love, connectedness, faith, and excellence. You reduce or stop this funding, you will see have less future rate payers and it's best you increase home ownership in our younger generations so there are continued local rate payers in the future.
