Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
No, keep 231 Stuart Street as a strategic asset

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Good idea but concerned about possible restriction of access to locals, perhaps the age could be raised to 18 - many 16 year olds may not have valid ID; also issues around profiling, choosing to check someone's ID if they 'appear international'

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I can imagine the abuse resulting from the proposed rate increases, however I welcome these increases. It is clear that rate payers (a vocal minority?) have been strongly opposed to increases previously, and as a result rates have increased at slower rate than they should have. Despite past stalling to pay, the bill is now due to all residents of the city and any attempt to say these increases are unnecessary is entirely unrealistic. Despite having relatively little means I see the value of investing in the city, and understand the necessity to protect our infrastructure.
