Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
The Tunnels Trail project of a shared path cycleway between Mosgiel and Caversham through the two old rail tunnels has been approved by Council previously. NZTA / Waka Kotahi then declined funding last year with the shift away from cycleways in the current funding round. There is still the likelihood of other Government co-funding of this trail as long as the DCC is also committed to it. The Tunnels Trail project is not a nice-to-have bit of additional "cycle track" for a small minority, but an essential and well overdue part of Dunedin’s transport infrastructure, and part of the city's, region's, and country's efforts towards Carbon Zero. It will never be cheaper to build it than right now.
