Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I support the Tunnels Trail project to develop a Shared Path/Cycleway between Mosgiel and Caversham and urge that it be added back into the Annual Plan for immediate action. This project has been long in the making and deserves to finally get done. The Tunnels Trail should be funded without delay and given high priority, with a focus on delivering operational sections as soon as possible. In addition to being a key connection between the coast and the Taieri Plain, the Tunnels Trail is an important step toward reducing our city’s carbon emissions by enabling more active transport options like walking and cycling. It will also connect into the wider Otago cycleway network, boosting both local commuting and tourism opportunities. While NZTA co-funding may not be currently available, other sources of support should be actively pursued, or the Trust and community enabled to proceed with development independently.
