9 year plan feedback
Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Need another theatre space. The money for a performing arts centre was removed from the plan. This still needs to be a priority for future funding
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
There will be staff costs for Toitu and the closing or manning of the second entry. Some interntional visitors may have comnections to Toitu and should not have to pay. Did pay entry fee for Toitu from 1979 to 2006 and was stopped. Retail income will drop as international visitors not coming. The costs benefits listed seem to vary. ie $150.00 to $360,000. Encourage donations. What are the current donations and this would include international visitors.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Staffing levels at Toitu ie no Registrar or Archivist for a significcant period.
No or minimal increased rental for community groups. The Otago Art Society should continue to have support for the Railway Station venue. It is a community asset. The staff and volunteers provide visitor information to many visitors.
Dunedin Venues should offer the community reduced charges to use the Stadium.
Limit infill apartments blocks with no green space etc Refer to the situation in South Dunedin.
The Council needs to be more transparent with information ie the Delloitte report
