9 year plan feedback
Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I'm disappointed to see the Tunnels Trail project to develop a shared path/cycleway between Mosgiel and Caversham was removed from the Annual Plan. It's clear to see from elsewhere in the country that this kind of infrastructure not only promotes wellbeing for many people which has massive physical and mental benefits, but it also provides many opportunities for cycling related support services, such as bike and equipment hire, touring guides, cycle transfer companies, local cafes and other tourist spots. We recently had a stunning review published in the Sydney Morning Herald of our shared path/cycleway around the Otago Harbour, and this is exactly the level of attention we need to draw from others. We should be doubling down on our investment, especially when there is unused infrastructure already present. It is pretty much a gift! Please add it back in to the Annual Plan with a high priority. Regardless of the absence of government co-funding we should look into ways to raise funds from other sources, and at the very least we should allow the community to independently proceed with development as there are well established groups with highly active and well credentialed individuals operating in this space already, with great success. To be able to connect the Dunedin cycle network with the wider Otago cycleway network is an excellent opportunity that will pay dividends for a very long time.
