Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) should be removed from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy ONLY IF it is sold and the profits go exclusively towards investment in performing arts infrastructure, OR the asset is taken on by another DCC function relating to performing arts.

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Require an entry fee at the amount self-determined by each visitor. Suggested amounts can be displayed.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
As a graduate of Theatre Studies from Otago University and a former employee of the Fortune Theatre, I fully support those working "on the ground" in Otepoti Dunedin who hold the fraying strings of theatre and performing arts. The DCC funding from the 2021-31 10 Year Plan is imperative in maintaining/supporting this sector and the Performing Arts Group Statement of Intent proposal, and should be reinstated in the 9-year plan. As a former employee of The Court Theatre in Otautahi Christchurch, I know firsthand how important council support and funding was in the build of the new theatre, as is their belief in theatre and performing arts' contribution to the revitalisation and growth of the city as a whole. I am also someone who has since left Aotearoa New Zealand, mostly due to the lack of theatre and performing arts career opportunities - how many other arts graduates have left the Dunedin? Certainly more than have stayed. Otepoti Dunedin is a vibrant city full of artists. Support them. Support the influence of arts on the wellbeing of your citizens. Support the growth of a sector that the country is always so proud of.
