This beautiful building is being wasted by not being used. There would be someone out there that will give it the love and care it deserves. DCC have allowed it to be empty way too long and probably has only ever done the bare minimum maintenance on it.
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
There are museums, etc in even small town NZ that charge you such as the Kauri Museum in Matakohe where they charge everyone (including NZ residents) $25.00 for an adult. I do think that children under 5 should be free and there should be a family price. You only have to see how many people pay to go the Tuhura Science Centre which is $20 per adult. We need to realise that by putting a price on something does not devalue its worth. The revenue generated will help with the care of collection. Do not be afraid to do this.

I think the Council should do what will be the best for future generations. If that means making it a CCO then that is what should be done. I understand that there will be staff impacted however we need to think long term. If a CCO is not able to easily borrow to replace aging assets then it should say in-house.
