9 yr plan 2025 and Local Water Done Well Submission

Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
If DCC has no use for the property then it should be disposed of. Sammy's should also be sold if it isn't feasible to repurpose into a functional theatre, or other community or commercial use. Owning heritage buildings that require heaps of work to bring up to code, without any plan for what use they have in the future, makes no sense.

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Our culture shouldn't be behind a paywall. We should be sharing it freely with visitors to our city. This is what makes Dunedin unique. People travel with a daily budget and I would rather they bought a nicer lunch and a coffee in a local cafe and see the museum for free, rather than spend it on admission. That money goes further in the local economy.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
