Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Regarding Te Awa Otakou:
I live near Portobello and regularly see locals and visitors enjoying the shared pathway both walking and biking. The pathway has dramatically improved walking and biking access along Portobello Road and the Council should be commended for getting the project this far. I use the path on my bike and walk. Whilst it is pleasing to note that the project is included in the LTP, I would like to see the works prioritised as below:
1) Ellison Rd to Otakou Fisheries Wharf
2) Tidewater Dr to Ellison Rd
3) Portobello to Weir Rd
Completing these sections would result in a safe pathway which is the most important consideration. As a regular user of the shared path I can report that whilst I appreciate the completed sections and seeing it being used all year round, I worry about the potential for accidents on the narrow and windy stretches that are not yet complete - particularly with regard to visiting motorists who are not used to the road with its windy sections and poor visibility within those sections. I see more groups biking on the pathway and whilst many stop at Portobello, some go further and I expect many would continue if the pathway was completed; bringing more visitors to the Peninsula.
I have often witnessed cyclists being squeezed in by motorists and have experienced this myself at the narrow sections. It can be stressful being on a bike and feeling that you have to speed up if there is a car or a bus behind you - sometimes there is no room to pull off and let the vehicle past.
In addition, Harington Point Road is the only access for the community past Portobello, visitors to the attractions and also the marae. It is imperative that the road is upgraded to support this traffic and allow for bikers/walkers to enjoy an alternative mode of transport.
Completing the project would keep the Council's promise to the community, improve safety and make the shared pathway a special asset for the whole city.
I urge the council to continue the good work in the priority order above.
Thank you.
