Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
No, keep 231 Stuart Street as a strategic asset
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Dunedin needs more performing arts spaces.
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Internatiional travellers are used to paying for attractions why should Dunedin be any different.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
The TeAwa Otakou/Peninsula Connection desperately needs to be continued. The Council and NZTA have done a marvelous job on the connection between Port Chalmers and Portobello, but the most dangerous part of the road has not been attended to, and that is between Ellisons Rd and the Otakou wharf. This is a critical pathway for tourists and locals alike and the road is extremely dangerous, especially when campervans and buses meet on the right angle bend just past Ellisons Road. If this part of the road is affected by high tides the roadway gets eroded. It is a critical connection for the Marae and local attractions eg Albatross Colony and OPERA. If the road is cut for any length of time there is a whole group of residents that could not travel to Dunedin or for vital water supply to be carried to the Albatross Colony. There are nurses and firefighters that would be trapped on the wrong side of the slip or eroded road and this would impinge on fellow workers in town. It is my recommendation that this section is attended to first.
Second the area from Allans Beach road to Portobello school and then onwards to Weir Road. There is a half hearted attempt at a cycle/walk lane from the bus turn around to Weir Road, but it is not very safe for children. One minute you are cycling/walking in a safe cycle lane when coming from Harwood towards Portobello and all of a sudden at Weir Road you are confronted with on-coming traffic. You are forced to cross the road and continue in a small lane with traffic passing you at 70kph, some of them big buses and trucks. An inland path would be easier to construct and would mean much safer access for children biking, running, scootering to school,
Thirdly the section from Harwood to Ellisons Road would be relatively easy to construct with just a simple widening of the road.
The Council owes the city as a whole to complete this magnificent asset. The Council has done a wonderful job so far but it does need to be completed.
Just imagine what Trip Advisor would be saying…One of the best cycle ways in the Southern Hemisphere…Wow what kudos to the city.
Local Water Done Well feedback
Which water services delivery model do you support?
The Council’s preferred option: an in-house delivery model
Why did you choose this option?
The City knows what is best for the City...better than some boffin in an ivory tower dictating what they think without going and seeing each area.
Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
