9 yr plan 2025 and Local Water Done Well Submission

Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
It would be good to explore the return of the asset to the community before any consideration of sale.

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Instead of introducing a fee it would be better to strongly promote donations or consider implementing a tourist attraction card/combo ticket (eg. for cruise boat passengers). In the end, it is important to encourage patronage of these great community attractions.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
The current approach to street maintenance (footpaths, verges etc.) is not satisfactory and results in Dunedin having a scruffy appearance. This encourages litter and suggests the council does not care about the city streetscape, this needs to be rectified with urgency. There needs to be a culture shift throughout the council that changes the focus from a compliance driven and rule focused view towards an environment that is focused on providing services and enabling activity in Dunedin. It is important for the council to be solution focused and to support residents to solve problems, whether that be building, cycleways or other community initiatives. Too often, the bureaucratic wall appears and currently the council is very risk averse and does not provide practical solutions. It is particularly important that the new CEO has this positive approach in mind.
