9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
No, keep 231 Stuart Street as a strategic asset

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
• Prioritise removal of wastewater pipes from the Caversham Tunnel and reroute to the Green Island Treatment Plant, to enable reopening the Caversham Tunnel for public access. • Remove Dunedin Railway funding of $2 million per year for 2 years. The funding should be diverted to establishing the Tunnels Trail. • Remove the extra $2 million per year funding for the Anzac Ave stadium. The “companies that own and operate the Forsyth Barr Stadium and operate the Dunedin Centre Town Hall” need to live within the very generous ratepayer subsidy we already provide the stadium. The funding should be diverted to establishing the Tunnels Trail. • Ensure the Dunedin venues public reporting requirements are changed to show the profit/loss/ratepayer subsidy for EACH venue separately. • The Peninsula harbourside shared path from Portobello through the cutting to Lamlash Bay needs to be completed urgently, for the safety of Portobello school children, walkers and cyclists. • Apart from this section, postpone the rest of the Peninsula Connection harbourside shared path completion to the next ten year plan. There is a much lower volume of traffic beyond Portobello so a separated path is a not a priority. The funding should be diverted to establishing the Tunnels Trail. • Retain full funding for new toilets and community housing. It’s far more important to spend our rates on this basic infrastructure than wasting it subsidising music events and festivals. • Build a continuous separated bike track running northwards along George St immediately. This is a serious safety issue for pedestrians - cyclists are using the pavement because there is no bike track at the moment. Apparently the project developers removed it from one block, without consultation... Paint the bike track green to make it obvious and ensure advertising signs are not allowed to block it. • Reinstate the Tunnels Trail Shared Path between Mosgiel and Caversham, with full funding, and get work underway immediately to get it open as soon as possible. This is basic infrastructure - a flat trail between Mosgiel and Dunedin for commuting, recreation, and tourism. The DCC is looking more and more stupid, with a tourist trail about to be opened from Queenstown through to Waihola and soon Mosgiel – and there it stops! • The trail should not be a “gold plated” wheelchair road. The trail design should be packed gravel, to OCRT standard, sufficient for walkers, dog-walkers, parents with children in strollers, and cyclists.
