I commend the City Council on its commitment to complete the final three stages of Te Awa Otakou/Peninsula Connection Project as indicated in the Long-Term Plan. I was an elected member of the Council when it made a promise in 2014-15 to prioritise the project's completion. I simply want to encourage the Council to push on with the last three stages of the project, which will deliver benefits in road safety, recreation and health. The widening of Portobello and Harington Point Roads is undoubtedly a world-class amenity but it does require the completion of the three programmed stages - important finishing touches.
