Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
This is common practice in many tourist destinations globally. We pay in other places & accept the reasons why we do.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Advancing and further strengthening the strategic relationship with mana whenua needs to be critical to DCC kaupapa. Te Tiriti needs to underpin all decision-making.
I accept the proposed rate increases.
Greater investment is needed to further reduce carbon emissions, including greater support for environmental initiatives eg town belt pest eradication, support for land-users to be innovative and use sustainable, planet-supporting methods of e.g., market gardening, urban gardening and farming.
Destination playground: A great initiative, especially that teenagers' needs are being considered. Woodhaugh also needs toilets/parent areas fit for purpose! There is nowhere for parents to easily effect nappy changing or dressing young children who've been in the pool. Please let the much-loved pool remain. A simple, gravel cycle track through the forest, adjacent to the playground, aimed at young children and their parents would be great. Upgrading at St Clair is urgent, I believe it needs to be seen as a Destination Playground. Remove small, unused, suburban playgrounds such as Braeview Crescent.
Moana Pool: older, frequent users, like myself, become extremely cold in the unheated changing rooms. Heating them in winter would be appreciated.
I have loved the long grass, roadside verges! I hope the use of poison has been totally discarded.
I would love to see a much greater emphasis on REDUCE is the approach to effect waste minimisation, especially in building waste and packaging. And introducing more ways to effect that.
I believe that all Council decision-making needs to be made with Te Tiriti, and the three main concepts of sustainable practice - people, planet and profit at the forefront. Community engagement, as you practice at present, is vital to Otepoti growing even stronger, more resilient, and a welcoming and inclusive place for us all.
Local Water Done Well feedback
Which water services delivery model do you support?
The Council’s preferred option: an in-house delivery model
Why did you choose this option?
Water is a vital service, and locals need control and a say in its management. In England, where many municipal water supplies were privatised in the 1980s, many have been the disasters and poor service stories from many areas. They continue . . .
Water is like the Family Silver - it MUST NOT be for sale.
Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
