9 yr plan 2025 and Local Water Done Well Submission

Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
I think the fee is too high. It is better to have lots of people viewing the galleries than putting people off. Consider the amount of donations received already. How mucg are visitors contributing? This source of funds would be lost.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Re Review of Rates Relief Grants I understand the that Community Subcommittee is reviewing the various grants. I am fully in support of retaining the Rates Relief Grant by the DCC essentially as it is now. It is important to retain as many organisations, such as churches which provide ongoing valuable assets for use by the wider community. The application procedure with a 3 year frequency seems appropriate and the information requested allows for a very clear assessment of how the halls are used to enhance the well-being of the community in for example, areas of education (Toy Library), recreation (Judo), health (Steady as You Go) and cultural (music concerts). These activities continue long-term so this grant probably should not be assessed with one-off community events. The rates relief grant enables the hire charges to be kept at an affordable rate and without the grant we probably would not be able to offer these activities.
