9 year plan feedback
Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
I don't fully understand what the removal would mean - I have checked the website if it means sale to an interested arts group or sensitive redevelopment, then I'm in favour. If its just going to be neglected, or sold and demolished then no.
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Page 24 - the rates increase % is higher for lower valued homes. This would seem to target people on lower incomes. Given cost of living, etc this would appear to be unfair. I'd like to see more commitment to community housing or at least active partnership with philanthropic builders. Smooth Hill landfill - given the problems with Queenstown airport and the sewage release due to birds - make sure there are no unintended consequences for airport/locals from bird increases (pg36)
Local Water Done Well feedback
Which water services delivery model do you support?
A Three Waters Council-Controlled Organisation (CCO)
Why did you choose this option?
It 's a difficult decision, but:
1. The CCO would allow greater access to debt which would allow for greater levels of investment.
2. The Council's 3 year cycle means that infrastructure is vulnerable to the whines of politics - appreciate CCO is owned by DCC.
3. I think the example of Scottish Water is a good one - accountable to the govt but independent.
Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
1. Water meters for residential properties should be considered. They make people understand how much water they use and, critically, they encourage people to fix leaks,
