Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
No, keep 231 Stuart Street as a strategic asset

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
As a heritage building in Dunedin (https://www.heritage.org.nz/list-details/3378/3378), it is worth retaining for Dunedin's cultural heritage. However, discussion needs to occur around its accessibility and ongoing sustainable use - as a future museum like destination.

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
To help fund 231 Stuart Street as above too, as a cost recovery mechanism. This $20 fee is similar to the new entry fee for Hamilton Gardens (North Island), it may be applicable to apply this fee though for both non-Dunedin residents and international guests for consistency and additional funding.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Retaining 231 Stuart Street and a new entry free for other museums (as mentioned above) is a logical step for cost recovery. This will also attract visitors to the CBD so a logical move.

Local Water Done Well feedback

Which water services delivery model do you support?
A Three Waters Council-Controlled Organisation (CCO)

Why did you choose this option?
Relying on DCC to improve the waterways has meant constant delay in improving the overall water infrastructure and its ageing from lack of ongoing maintenance/parts replacement etc. Applying an Indigenous lens to this process will also demonstrate Treaty of Waitangi compliance.

Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
Academic articles to support proposed water services delivery models should include: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/1943815X.2025.2451424 / https://shura.shu.ac.uk/35391/1/Hobbs-ANationalAssessment%28VoR%29.pdf
