Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
No, keep 231 Stuart Street as a strategic asset
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
This is an important cultural landmark in our city centre, and it needs the support of local government to be restored to operations, something which private hands can't be trusted with and community charities lack the resources to achieve.
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Turning visitors away from these attractions will harm Dunedin as a whole by disincentivizing tourists from visiting them, and spending while in the city to visit them.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
We need more low income residents living in central dunedin, to pay rates, work in the city and spend their wages in it, not on transport to and from it. Please push for development of low cost medium or even high density housing in the heart of Dunedin and along bus lines. This can be incentivised through offered exceptions to planning requirements like parking or height limits based on % of low cost units. If more workers can live and spend in Dunedin, we won't need to scrape pennies out of tourists or delist assets as we'll have a local economy and incoming rates to cover expenses.
Local Water Done Well feedback
Which water services delivery model do you support?
The Council’s preferred option: an in-house delivery model
Why did you choose this option?
Direct community involvement and accountability and easier co-ordination with existing infrastructure and council make this the better of these two limited options.
Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
