9 year plan feedback
Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
No
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
I support introducing a fee but $20 is far too much. A fee of $5 (absolute maximum of $10) is more appropriate.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Please add into the draft plan the high investment option for Zero Carbon. We should not delay our transition to zero carbon. We need to be doing more to mitigate our climate impacts.
Local Water Done Well feedback
Which water services delivery model do you support?
A Three Waters Council-Controlled Organisation (CCO)
Why did you choose this option?
The impact of political election cycles and the popularity of keeping rates low needs to be eliminated from the management of 3 waters, which is an essential service.
Professional governance is required for decision-making on 3 Waters. Decisions on 3 waters are life or death and impact the safety and wellbeing of our community. Our current Councillors are doing a great job in regards 3 Waters but there is no guarantee that will continue following the next local body elections.
A CCO model provides the opportunity for joining 3 Waters services with other Councils. This would help to obtain the benefits of economies of scale and buying power.
Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
The previous governments 3 Waters Reform with it's Entity D then Entity J approach was much better than what this National government proposed. Local influence could have been achieved. But Council wanted local control and in so doing has lost the opportunity for making the quality and affordability of 3 waters markedly better.
