9 yr plan 2025 and Local Water Done Well Submission

Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
No, keep 231 Stuart Street as a strategic asset

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
We, Kevin and Lucia Rogers would like to see 231 Stuart Street kept as a strategic asset. This is one of the buildings that represent the unique Heritage characteristics of Dunedin City, and as such deserves preservation in some form. A suggestion to save costs could be that some of the facade of the building is left intact, allowing for a new build to be incorporated.

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Yes, introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
We feel it is essential to charge a token fee of $20 to international visitors. It is only fair and equitable that the international visitor pay their own way not the Dunedin Ratepayer.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
We have not seen a budgeted figure for future preservation of Heritage Properties - Category 1 that form part of the Heritage streetscape of our city. Kevin and I purchased the Karitane Hospital, 79 Every Street, Anderson's Bay in Feb 2011. Since then we have restored the interior by creating 9 apartments to give people quiet, warm homes, with a spectacular view and a neighbourly feel. At no time since 2011 have our rentals exceeded our outgoings. In order to fund this project we have sold our home in Macandrew Bay and sold our ECE centres in Invercargill, plus using part of our salaries, (We live in the property) in addition to a grant from Heritage NZ Pouhere Taonga to help with costs off replacing the roof, and a grant from DCC to replace the roof to a porch and decks. Without these grants we would not have come as far as we have. We continue doing repairs and maintenance every work week day. We consider ourselves as custodians of the property, (and eventually the garden when done), for the future. Please ensure that there are monies available for projects like ours over the next 9 years to keep Dunedin City a Heritage City.

Local Water Done Well feedback

Which water services delivery model do you support?
The Council’s preferred option: an in-house delivery model

Why did you choose this option?
It makes more sense to have an hands on (in-house) delivery.

Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
We believe that an in-house delivery is the best model.
