I feel many families would appreciate some communication about parking at the Kensington Oval. This is one of Dunedin's biggest assets for sports, but there is no drop off space or nearby parking.
I realise the current attitude towards parking and the drive towards using more sustainable modes of transport, but for parents dropping off kids the current layout is not feasible. Can I suggest a drop-off zone be instituted beside or near the changing rooms to allow children be delivered safely to the ground without taking on the four lanes of traffic?
The amount of parks on the side of the road comes nowhere near to the amount of people who use the space when all of the grounds are in use.
Or temporary parking during the summer on the fields for sports like touch rugby. This is an important place for the city to use recreationally, but many parents aren't signing their kids up for sports they know will be held at these grounds because of the dangerous access issues. Thank you.
