Dunedin has not upgraded its wastewater pipes. in my case the waste water pipe is nearly 100 years old. The wastewater pipes in our network are old and not made of modern materials so groundwater and stormwater can get in. The pipes have some capacity to take additional wet weather flow, but unfortunately in significant rainfall this extra capacity gets overwhelmed and wastewater overflows in my back yard occur. improve the wet weather performance of the wastewater network and reduce or eliminate wastewater overflows . This could involve preventing stormwater getting into the wastewater system, renewing pipes, installing more storage in the network or more overflows. $573 million has been budgeted in the draft 9 year plan for network (including wastewater, water and stormwater) upgrades. I would like to see more investment than$573 million to help ensure we can carry out this necessary work.
