9 year plan feedback
Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Housing and business growth in Mosgiel needs more transportation safety improvements included in the budget than are currently budgeted for or that are identified in the FDS. I would like to see in the short term road safety improvements to Goron Road/ SH87 from the corner of Dukes Road north until the Te Puna o Whakaehu. The road is very narrow in places and it is unsafe to cycle on and there are no viable alternative routes. Can the DCC please seek that this is included in the next regional land transport plan or better find a way to fund safety improvements in the short term. Mosgiel has a relatively high proportion of cyclists compared to other parts of Dunedin as well as significant population growth. More and more people wish to cycle places like the pool or the town centre and this needs to be made as safe as possible. I regularly cycle this way but feel it is too unsafe to allow my child to cycle it without me with him. This safety issue will get worse if an inland port/ transport hub is built on Dukes Road North - could that development part pay for this upgrade to ensure this safety problem does not get worse, could this be added to the programme so that development contributions on housing growth could also pay for this need. Secondly, could traffic signals on the corner of Hartstonge and Gordon road also be added to the transportation programme. The volume of traffic from New World means the right hand turn on Gordon road is extremely difficult given the increased traffic volumes using Gordon Road. Could this please be added to the programme and as growth is contributing to this issue it could be part funded through development contributions. If possible I would also like to see funding for the Tunnels trail re-included in the 9 year plan and support for the community groups trying to connect Mosgiel to the Clutha Gold Trail. The tunnels trail would be a game changer for being able to commute to the city and both projects would support Dunedin as a cycling destination. The harbourside cycle track is awesome but we also need to be connected through to the Clutha Track to be part of a regional network to support cycle tourism.
