Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I urge the DCC to seriously include professional theatre in its 9-year plan – not only to retain talented theatre practitioners in this UNESCO City of Literature, but equally, to provide the community with world-class, cutting-edge theatre experiences that reflect Dunedin’s tradition of vibrant arts and culture. I further encourage the DCC to take full account of the Charcoal Blue reports, which clearly recommend the development of a suitable theatre venue for the city. The shortage of suitable spaces for theatre in Dunedin cannot be overstated. The Regent Theatre is too large for most productions in a city of this size; the University of Otago’s Allen Hall Theatre is a small, studio-style space primarily used for classes and student performances; and the Mayfair Theatre is outdated, dilapidated, and unsuitable for both audiences and creative professionals. In the strongest terms, I urge the DCC to reinstate the $17 million allocation for the creation of a purpose-built performing arts venue that meets the needs of the community. This is a necessary step for a city that has, in the past, been a vibrant hub for performing arts, and could be again
