Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
The Port Chalmers Foundry Society seeks to ensure that the approximately $700,000 funding that was committed by the Council in 2023 to stabilising and decontaminating the Sims building site remains in the budget. Although the actual work has not commenced for a variety of very good reasons. Council staff have been working very constructively with the Foundry Society over the past couple of years and we have greatly appreciated the effort that they have put in. Unfortunately natural disasters both nationally and locally have impacted on the availability of contractors to commence the work and on Council time that has been able to be dedicated to the work. Progress is now being made with recent agreement from the Maori Trust who own a small parcel of the land to allow the work to proceed and the first part of stabilisation work is about to commence. Once this work has been completed fundraising by the Foundry Society will be made much easier as progress will be very obvious to potential donors. We will likely have to come back to the Council through the Heritage Fund over the next few years for funding for specific projects however we will be dedicating a significant amount of our time to fundraising for the wider project. We note that the DCC has had to withdraw from funding a Performing Arts Venue - we would like to remind the Council that our proposal includes proposed spaces which will support both the performing and visual arts and we see it as an important asset for the district.
