George St
We continue to recieve positive feedback from disablled people re the positive effect that being able to acces the CDB has on their lives.
Families, enjoy the play space and inparticular the oppoturnities for play and to take a break form shopping. The value of a free space can not be undersetimated. We understand that there have been some problems with the play equipment, however,we strongly recommond that the Council continue to maintain the play equipment as it is beneficial to all.
We congratulate the Councilon the success of the George St Market day.
Play grounds.
We have recieveid positive feed back from families re the upgraded playground at the Botanic Gardens including disabled adults describing the joy children have experienced when older disabled adults are able to play with them, using the ground level tampoline etc. We recommond that during the devlopment of the destination play grounds and others that the Council continue to engage with disabled people and with an expert with the lived experience of disability and sound knowledge of Universal Design.
Transport infrastructure
We support the increased investment in renewals, with the proviso that improving accessibility is fully intergraated into the programme, this needs to include, consulting with disabled people to gain insight into access barriers and consulting an expert with the lived experience of disability and a sound knowledge of Universal Design. The benefiits of this are demonstrated by broad engegement that the Council carried out during the Grorget St up grade and devlopment of an accesible and attractive CBD.
Urban Centre Upgrades.
The urban centre up grades have the potential to strengrthen local communities and create oppoturnities for walking and cycling etc. Improvements to seating etc. will make the urban centres more useable. We recommond that the Council repeat the sucessfull engaegement that it devloped for the George St up grade and continues to engage with disabled people and with an expert with the lived experience of disability and sound knowledge of Universal Design.
