Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
231 Stuart Street should be removed from the asset list only if the profits from the sale go exclusively towards funding performing arts infrastructure in Dunedin
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
A pay what you can entry fee should be adopted , with suggested amounts displayed
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Funding for a performing arts venue/ infrastructure should be reinstated in the 9 year plan. Otepoti Dunedin is the only major city in New Zealand without local government support for Performing Arts Infrastructure. When other centers around the country have been investing in this area, Dunedin has fallen woefully behind. Our current venues are in need of significant upgrades to get them to a level of operation expected in a major center. It has come to a point where, as a local technician, I am embarrassed to welcome visiting productions into our venues. Accessibility is a major issue, excluding people with disabilities and those with mobility limitations from accessing arts in the city. It is extremely likely that without investment some of the cities venues will be closed within the next year or so, putting even more strain on an industry and creatives already struggling with lacking facilities. This will also effect the viability and continued operation of festivals and events in Dunedin as well as visiting productions.
