Has a third option not been considered i.e. the partial sale of the Aurora network?
Selling the Central Otago network back to that region as it was prior to 1999 Electricity Reforms should be in the mix of options.
The best interests of both ratepayers and all of Aurora's customers need to be the guiding premise of any decision, and ownership / control of an essential service delivers benefits that are otherwise likely to be forgone with this network sale.
Similarly, there are options for partial council / private / consumer trust ownership that do not appear to have been considered as alternatives.
Do not rush this decision. Explore all possibilities thoroughly.
