Submission
Variation 2 change ID RTZ2 Provision name and number, or address and map layer name Re-Zoning of 87 Selwyn St, North-East Valley, currently zoned Rural Residential 2, as General Residential 2. My/our submission seeks the following decision from the Council: Accept the change with amendments outlined below Details That the developer of 87 Selwyn St, and future residents, may not require removal of trees growing on 14A Forrester Ave due to shading or any other reason apart from physical safety. Reasons for these views The lower part of 14A Forrester Ave has established bush, with several substantial and desirable trees. The upper part, when we bought that land in 1992, had areas of dense gorse [a noxious weed] growing on mainly steep land, which we have progressively cleared and replaced by woodlot (mainly planting trees recommended by the then Forestry Service for small farm woodlots), which, as it has grown to reasonable size, has suppressed regrowth of the gorse. We were confident that as 87 Selwyn St was zoned rural at that time, and the dwelling was a considerable distance from 14A Forrester Ave, the trees would not cause any shade or other problems for 87 Selwyn St. It would be unfair if the rezoning of 87 Selwyn St allowed a future developer or residents to require removal of these trees for shade or other reasons other than safety.
