Submission
Variation 2 change ID Alternative F2-Alt-2 Provision name and number, or address and map layer name Performance standard for on-site stormwater detention My/our submission seeks the following decision from the Council: Accept the change Details I would like to see the reinstatement/acceptance of the rejected option of adding a performance standard requiring the installation of on-site stormwater detention systems of a specified size per area of buildings or per area of impermeable surface. Reasons for these views We are the unwitting 'caretakers' of a 'private' piped watercourse that passes for the DCC's stormwater drainage system for what is already a large number of properties, particularly above and on the other side of Cannington Road from where we are. The properties at 82-88 Cannington Road (and especially 88) are extremely susceptible to occasions of heavy flows of stormwater that feed into this system. The property at 88 Cannington Road has had two major flooding events in the last year-and-a-half because of this. I understand that there is at least one relevant subdivision that was required to install an on-site stormwater detention system. I would like to see this enforced for any new development that might occur in the area where stormwater could enter our 'private' watercourse. Merely having a retained specification of 70% impermeable surface for new developments would probably not suffice. At the very least, I believe that no increase in the stormwater inflow to the system we are faced with should be permitted, given that the DCC declines to take responsibility for this particular 'stormwater system' and, at least in the past, has even neglected to ensure that the mud tanks that drain into the system are kept cleared.
