Variation 2 change ID #808263 Site 52 (235 Signal Hill Rd)
Provision name and number, or address and map layer name Site 52 (235 Signal Hill Rd)
My/our submission seeks the following decision from the Council: If the change is not rejected, amend as outlined below
Details Consider amendments before acceptance or rejection of the change. Do not allow development in areas of established or regenerating native bush. Please see previous Submission by Barton Acres for further detailed and mapped analysis and suggestions.
Reasons for these views Retaining our local native bush not only retains biodiversity, it also reduces our risk of erosion and landslide. More homes can be sited closer to North Rd if land that currently has no bush on it, is utilised for development instead. Public access and community open space/ food gardens/ urban farm/ community rooms are all great community amenities that might be possibilities for the future. I am hoping that these can be planned for in this new very valuable suburban & rural space for the community of North Dunedin. For further background on the value of Community Access to Urban farms contact Dr Simon McMillan, Fulbright Teacher of Excellence and Head of Science at Kaikorai Valley College e mail simcmillan@kvc.school.nz.
