The Government is consulting on changes to the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020 to make it easier to use the IFF model for housing and growth-related infrastructure. The Amendment Bill would broaden the types of projects that can be funded, simplify the levy approval process and introduce new charging and recovery tools, so more infrastructure can be delivered without sitting on council balance sheets. Public submissions on the Bill are open through Parliament’s select committee process, and if passed in 2026 the updated IFF regime would begin to apply to new IFF levy proposals from the mid-2020s.
