Experience a guided cultural journey in Karitāne, led by Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki. These immersive sessions offer a respectful, place-based way to engage with Te Tiriti o Waitangi through stories of whenua, awa, and whakapapa.

Morning Session: Awa & Māra (8:00am–11:00am)

  • Waka experience on the Waikouaiti Awa
  • Māra kaupapa and planting activity
  • Maximum 16 participants
  • Returns to Dunedin by 11:00am

Afternoon Session: Huriawa Guided Walk (1:00pm–4:00pm)

  • Guided hikoi across Huriawa Peninsula
  • Explore local history, pā sites, and Ngāi Tahu narratives
  • Reflective kōrero and activities
  • Maximum 40 participants
  • Returns to Dunedin by 4:20pm

Delivered in partnership with Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki and Dunedin City Council, with support from Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture & Heritage.

The Kāritāne Cultural Journeys are free but ticketed, with limited spaces to ensure a safe, low-impact experience for the kāinga and visitors.
