The roundabout has greatly improved safety (vehicle and pedestrian) at this intersection and I really like how traffic flow is more controlled and allows for less ambiguous turn signaling.
St David St vehicle access in both directions is a major arterial route between the hill suburbs and North Dunedin. As a former regular user of this route, my concern would be that reducing to one way traffic at St David St is going to redirect traffic to Warrender/Howe St and create congestion and more traffic closer to George St Normal School.
I walk along George St as often as I drive along the road and personally feel that the status quo is fine. The key areas I would be concerned about traffic speed and crossing safety is near George St School and Woodhaugh gardens.
I agree there should be a divider for pedestrians crossing George St/Bank St as that section of road is too wide to cross safely.
