As pictured the cycle lanes encourage cyclists to ride within the dooring zone or parked cars and create the expectation on the part of motorists that they should do so. This is not consistent with cycling safety or good practice. I am a user of this route by bicycle and find that there is adequate road space for me to ride safely without either risking dooring or holding up motorists. I believe the primary safety benefit will come from reducing the speed of the traffic stream and am happy to accept the minor inconveniences associated with the measures to improve the experience of pedestrians and bus users on this route. Please do not provide cycle lanes which do not give adequate clearance from parked cars. I repeat please do not provide cycle lanes on this route that put cyclists at risk of dooring from inattentive people exiting their cars. Learn from the tragedies on the One Way system when it had such cycle lanes.
