In the proposal here is no balance between safety and efficient use of George Street as a collector/arterial route. The route is appropriate for a 50 km/hour speed limit without speed humps. Busses and commercial heavy vehicles should not have to negotiate speed humps on primary routes. Localised traffic management is appropriate where there are identified hazards but to condemn the whole route to become a sub-standard traffic corridor is in no-one's interest. The philosophy of safety above all else is flawed.
