Requiring payment for parking on Sundays will significantly increase the turnover of parked vehicles in the CBD. This is crucial for retail operators and particularly hospitality outlets. Free parking dates from a time when there was no Sunday trading; we need to upate this to match 21st Century realities. There are currently far too many vehicles parked for very long periods in these parking spaces, preventing others from using them (and in particular those who can't take public transport or use active transport).
