This submission is on behalf of the South Coast Neighbourhood Society regarding the proposed $92 million spend on the Smooth Hill Landfill development. We have attached our submission as a PDF document. We welcome the opportunity to discuss our concerns with Councillors and Council staff.
Furthermore we attach a response from Chris Henderson in response to our questions on the Future Dunedin advertisement - we note Point 10 where we attempted to clarify the figures and effectively received no information at all - we understand the need for commercial sensitivity, however we do believe that such a lack of information is deliberately obstructive.
Our hope is that through this submission we can achieve confidence that the Councillors are receiving all information required from Chris Henderson and his team in order to make such an enormous decision.
NOTE: we have elected to attend the hearing online on Monday morning as our Chair Sarah Ramsay is in Australia for business all week and unavailable on the other days. Therefore if Monday could be accommodated that would be appreciated. Alternatively we have a DCC hosted Smooth Hill Community Liaison Group Meeting scheduled for the 21st of May, which is the week prior to scheduled Council deliberations, this would be an ideal and alternative forum for discussion also.
