My/our submission seeks the following decision from the Council: Reject the change
Details My house has been badly flooded twice within a 6 month period during 2019/2020, and this is because my own private drain has been overloaded by the connections of new dwellings to this private drain, which is owned by myself and my neighbour Dr Peter Schwartz. The DCC has granted consents for the new drainage connections and I have suffered the consequences. I am strongly opposed to any new development in my catchment area.
Reasons for these views My property has suffered water damage on two occasions, and on one other occasion in January 2021 there was almost another episode of flooding, due to water which this time originated from Cairnhill Street. This situation has caused a drop in the value of my property and has also reduced the chances of selling my property. I enquired at the DCC and was advised that I had fallen from 16th to 30th on the list of priorities for storm water projects in Dunedin, plus I have had to pay myself to have my mud tank cleared; I wish the DCC to clear it once a year please.
